Fairy Tears is a water theater show about the creation of Lake Balaton. Based on a legend written by Klára Tokody, and produced by the Alela Theatre, in this adaptation the audience will recognize famous Balaton motifs, such as the echo of Tihany, and the famous "Golden Bridge” (which refers to the reflection of the setting sun on the water).
The story begins when a beautiful golden-haired Fairy Princess is kidnapped by a terrible dragon, who then keeps her captive in his empire. Her brother, the Fairy Prince, sets out to rescue her, and with the help of magical forces is finally able to defeat the beast, but is mortally wounded in the battle. As the Fairy Princess mourns her fallen brother, the tears of her sorrow create our beautiful lake, the Balaton.
This story of sibling love, loyalty and sacrifice, is performed on the water by actors, musicians and dancers, but with its spectacular visuals and music, the audience can enjoy it from the shore.
